“4 Simple Ways To Relax The Body & Mind”

Life is tough. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, we
all have to face many difficult and stressful situations. Being
at the effect of life can leave us feeling stressed, worried,
angry, confused and frustrated.

And the way we feel affects everything in our lives. When we
feel bad, everything seems much worse than it is. A bad mood is
like a filter that prevents us from seeing the positive things
in life. Every little thing seems like another irritation.

If that’s something you can relate to — take heart — we all
know what it’s like to feel stressed and frustrated. The
important thing is to have the tools to recover quickly and
naturally, find yourself again, and get back on track.

Here are four tips to help you relax the body and mind:

1. Take A Break

When things are starting to get out of hand and you can feel
yourself reaching threshold, STOP. Finish what you’re doing.
Take a break before you start anything new.

If someone is driving you mad, make an excuse and leave the
room! Go and take a walk. Get some fresh air, find some calm
within and then prepare yourself to get stuck in again!

2. Listen To Relaxing Music

Music can have a powerful effect on your state. I’m sure there
have been times when you heard a piece of music and suddenly you
felt great. We all know songs that make you tap your foot or
remind you of being in love.

Create a collection of music to help you relax and feel good.
Make a tape of those songs that make you smile to help you
unwind. Play it as often as you can…when you’re at home, when
you’re working, when you’re in your car. You’ll be surprised
how good you’ll begin to feel.

3. Avoid Stimulants

Tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and chocolate all contain caffeine.
Over the course of the day, this can add to your stress level
considerably.

Why not prepare yourself a healthy alternative? Bottled water,
freshly squeezed fruit juice and herbal teas are excellent for
maintaining your body’s natural water balance and helping you
keep cool under pressure.

4. Use A Soothing Voice

Use a relaxed and soothing tone of voice, not just out loud, but
also when you talk to yourself. A soft, low, melodious tone
opens up the relaxation circuits in your mind and helps you stay
calm even in heated situations.

A friend of mine once told me “Life is a struggle. But once you
accept that, it becomes a lot easier.”

We can learn to deal with life’s challenges by setting aside
some time to go to work on ourselves, developing a state of
acceptance. When we can learn to calm our minds and separate
ourselves from our problems, we are on the road to significant
improvement.

Meditation To Awaken The Spirit

Meditation is often visualized as some mysterious Eastern tradition where the person sits in a knot, surrounded by candles and saying mantras or humming.  But meditation can be a path to awaken the spirit and start the journey towards spiritual awakening.

Meditation has different schools, each school with its own meditation tenets.  There are also different techniques and classifications for meditation.  There are meditative techniques which focus on a field or a background perception, while there are others which focus on a specific object.

Meditation calms the mind and relaxes the body.  Tension, stress and anxiety can be relieved by performing simple techniques. Aside from the inner peace that meditation brings, it can also improve the body’s total and general health, improve concentration, and enhance the performance of athletic and sport professionals.

Health Benefits

Health benefits of meditation would include:

  • better circulation
  • increase in exercise tolerance
  • regulation of blood pressure
  • reduction of anxiety attacks
  • reduction of muscle tension

In essence, a deeper understanding and knowledge, resulting in the body ‘becoming one’ with the universe. This can also link us to the Supreme Being.  ( “Prayer is talking to God: meditation is listening”…) Attaining this ‘oneness’ is, indeed, a spiritual awakening – where the body and the mind can fully understand what is not physical or material.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  Heb 11:6

Ancient Rituals Of Spiritual Awakening

(****EDITOR’S NOTE:  Higher Vibrations will be permanently moved to this site soon.  Please make changes in your bookmarks.****)

Since the prehistoric period, people seem to be in quest for spiritual awakening and enlightenment. There are different ancient rituals performed by different groups of people worldwide. Indigenous cultures that are still existing until now, shows us a glimpse of how ancient people quest on having a deeper understanding of the earth and the spirits.

Unfortunately, rituals are considered to be ‘old-world’ and are not so easily accepted today. Ritualistic practice tends to be brushed off as irrational, superstitious and primitive. The Churches have totally rejected these rituals, quoting them as pagan acts and condemned. Through these rituals, people get to understand and journey towards spiritual awakening.

In ancient times, mystery schools existed, dedicated in discovering and exploring the mysteries of life and therefore touching some aspects of spirituality. These schools flourished in Egypt, Tibet and Persia.

Ancient Egyptians toned special chants and sounds at midnight in different locations like the sacred man-made lake and the secret chamber below the Great Sphinx. This chanting stimulates a part of the head that can open up the brain to universal energy and electrical stimulation. This could unleash or release your psychic gifts and abilities. Once it has been opened, more psychic and spiritual gifts will ensue. Gifts would include intuition, creativity, clairvoyant abilities, and emphatic abilities.

Ancient Egypt recognizes the end of the year as the time of reckoning, reflection and engendering towards spiritual enlightenment. Ushet Rekhat or Mother Worship starts with a meditation ritual which strengthen the understanding and devotion of the follower. Meditation would also draw wisdom and health to those who share the ritual.

Homa is an Indian ancient fire ritual which is done with the intention of helping you have good relationships, find a partner, have children and even remove bad karma or negative aspects in a horoscope.

In Buddhist and Hindu traditions, tantra is used to express and advance spirituality. Tantra is not really a tradition but are rituals that maintain spiritual core. Tantra, the word itself, means web and enlightenment. This has been used in ancient India to attain spiritual enlightenment and advancement. Today, Tantra has evolved into a sexual/spiritual phenomenon. Unfortunately, the ritual which is used to be a path to awakening is now used for sexual perversion and scattered among pornography and prostitution.

Ancient Iran also have a unique way of looking at spiritual awakening and enlightenment. To achieve awakening, it is important to attain spiritual perfection and later on immortality of the soul. Spiritual strength is also important in realizing God.

In Tibet, interestingly the making of the thangkas paintings is supposed to lead to developing attitudes like peacefulness, patience, perseverance, concentration, self-development and spiritual enlightenment. Thangkas paintings are similar to the art of pata chitra, which is very much known in India as early as 1st century. The ancient practices are still being used until today.

Whether these rituals are credible and applicable until now, most of the indigenous tribes who have started these rituals are still practicing and believing them until now. Spiritual awakening is not only achievable by undergoing different rituals among different regions, this inner and self-communication should start from the person looking for spiritual awakening.

Basic Self-Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis refers to hypnosis where self-induction is used. Here, the person who practices self-hypnosis uses “autosuggestion” or self-suggestion to be able to adjust or overcome certain conditions or situations. In most cases, self-hypnosis is used as a therapeutic supplement along with hypnotherapy.

If you are planning to conduct self-hypnosis at home, ask people who have been practicing it for the basic methods that you can use. If you personally know people who are doing self hypnosis, it is best to get first-hand information from them.

Although you can get advice from practitioners, it is best if you get the facts straight from those you know. By doing this, you can get the best tips and advice on how to start with the practice and carry on with it for your personal as well as spiritual growth. Once enough information has been gathered, you can now start with self-hypnosis.

Self-Improvement Using Hypnosis

Sometimes our lives seem filled with “busy-ness”. We find ourselves
living faster, yet complicated, lives. The scope of our interactions
seem wider yet shorter, communication easier yet brief. Despite the
many preoccupations, we find ourselves wanting to get back to our
original self and connect with it in the most basic possible means.

One of these basic means of self-awareness is hypnosis. Defined as a “process
involving a hypnotist and a subject who agrees to be hypnotized,”
hypnosis is characterized by intense concentration, extreme
relaxation, and high suggestibility to both parties.

Hypnosis can take place in various social settings and continue to
change social settings dramatically. Although in the past, settings
of hypnosis were quite limited, today the sessions between the
hypnotist and the subject can take place in common places such as
clinics, showrooms, classrooms, and even online via pre-recorded
audio.

Many perceive hypnosis as a trance-like altered state of
consciousness while others believe that it is a way of accessing a
person’s unconscious mind that is filled with suppressed memories,
repressed multiple personalities, various magical insights, and
unforgettable memories of past life/lives. But, in the world of
psychology, hypnosis is considered a gateway to knowledge of one’s
self and one’s individual universe.

Today, hypnosis is not only used for treating various behavioral
problems but also for self-enhancement and improvement. In fact, it
can be used as means of disciplining yourself into achieving any
number of goals. Hypnosis can benefit those who want to lose or gain
weight, boost their self-confidence, or overcome their fears or
phobias.

Through hypnosis, we can bypass our conscious mind and reach into
our subconscious mind. We then learn to communicate with our
subconscious mind, learn to create our own hypnosis scripts and
visualizations, adapting the scripts to suit various problems.

Though many perpetuate the illusion that one loses control in
hypnosis, one actually becomes relaxed and focused . You choose
to participate, and you can walk away at any time.

Body Exercises To Dispel Stress

Physical exercise can improve how your body handles stress. This involves routine movements that will improve your cardiovascular functions and strengthen your heart. This in turn improves the circulation of your blood and other bio-chemicals which your body needs to maintain good health. When your muscles are well supplied with oxygen, the resulting muscle integrity will improve endurance, stamina and flexibility.

Physical exercise is also an outlet for mental stress – releasing tension, lifting depression, anxiety, anger, fear, and so on by focusing on the workout.

Activities That Will Help Relieve Stress

Stressed-Out DudeSometimes it seems almost impossible to find an outlet while under stress. If we take a mental moment to stop! – and realize that the best thing we can do to lessen our misery by just ‘doing something’: something fruitful and, most importantly, something we enjoy – just for the sheer joy of the thing.

Therapists around the world agree that certain activities like games, sports and art can greatly affect a stressed person’s physical and behavioral problems. Physical activity is even employed in stress management clinics, and is part of the routine treatment in helping individuals cope with their stress issues.

Mind games

Since stress will first affect the mental functions of an individual, it is very important to teach the person focus his mind on positive thoughts rather than dwelling on negative ones. Mind games offer an alternative which will allow a stress person to divert this thought patterns to something more productive. These clinics encourage their patients to tackle crossword puzzles and sudoku to help them cope with stress.

Logical functions are put to the test by introducing the Rubiks Cube, Scrabble, and Bridge, into their curriculum. If you have no plans of visiting these centers to deal with stress, you can easily incorporate these games into your daily routine to give your mind some diversion from problems.

Sports

Engaging in sports is a great way to relieve stress. The physical exercise that your body needs to balance biological and muscular functions can rejuvenate those muscles that are tight due to the effects of stress. Playing sports can also provide an outlet for emotional problems like anxiety, depression, irritation, anger, and so on.

There are two kinds of sports a person can engage on his or her own free time. They can opt for team sports like basketball, soccer or volleyball which provides socializing functions and exercise. Individual sports like badminton, golf and tennis can also be a great help in focusing your mind to win the game rather than feeling useless under all the extra problems.

Workout

A visit to the gym may prove to be beneficial to your emotional, mental and physical health when under the influence of stress. The routine exercise your gym instructor will give you can help your mind focus on the tasks at hand. The strenuous activities can develop your muscles which improves your bodys coping mechanism to stress, and allows the body to release chemicals and hormones that is beneficial to your physiological well-being.

Cardiovascular exercise can improve your heart and strengthen it to avoid stress related problems like strokes, high-blood pressure, chest pains and rapid heart beat. Due to the steady circulation in your system will benefit your muscles because of the fresh oxygen supply provided by these hearty fluids.

Note however that working out at the gym needs proper diet as well since your physical attributes will be worked to the limit to help fight off stress. Fresh fruits and vegetables are necessary improves digestion and supplies the body with the required nutrients it needs. Red meat devoid of fat can give your muscles proteins that will strengthen muscle tissues for added flexibility.

A healthy dose of mental activities, physical exercise coupled with a balance diet can help a person avoid the signs and symptom of stress and will be on the road to recovery to a stress free life.

Growing Spiritually

Our concepts of self-worth and self-meaning become diluted in a world defined by money, power, and influence. How can we strike a balance between the material and spiritual aspects of our lives?

We begin by looking inward, examining and reflecting upon our thoughts, beliefs, motivations. We can gain much insight by looking at our decisions, relationships, and how we spend most of our time. Then we begin to separate from our negative characteristics and cling to our better traits.

We must try to develop into one who places the needs of the body under the needs of Continue reading
